Our design process ensures you get what you want.
We approach web site design with you in mind. Your web site should be built to meet the needs of your individual situation. We use a process to develop your site that is very interactive and customer friendly, allowing you to have as much or as little input into the design as you would like. We also like to avoid surprises for the benefit of both you and your budget.
- Initial Consultation
- Our first meeting will allow us to get acquainted with each other and with your project plan. Whether you have only a very basic idea in your head or a typewritten flow chart with example layouts, this meeting will allow us to discuss the design needs and get a good idea of what it will take to make your idea a reality. We are happy to offer suggestions at this time and explain how we would approach your project. We will also let you know what additional details we may need to create your custom price quote. If you have strict budget limitations, this is the time to inform us. The initial consultation is free of charge.
- Price Quote
- Once we have the details we need, we will create a customized price quote. The quote will contain a price total for your project and will include a general list of site features that have been discussed. You will have the chance to review the quote and ask any questions you might have. If the project price is beyond your budget requirements, we can discuss how the design plan might be modified to accommodate your budget. Once the quote is agreeable, the price will not change barring any major additions or changes made by you.
- Written Agreement
- When we agree upon a price, we will prepare a written agreement so that both of us know what will be expected by when. We usually accept payments in thirds at the beginning, middle, and end of the project, but we can also arrange a half and half payment structure if you prefer. Our written agreement will establish project due dates with specific goals for each date. The agreement is intended to establish understanding so that neither of us is caught off guard by uncommunicated expectations. Down payments are due at this time.
- Design Process
- Upon establishing our agreement and receiving needed information and materials from you, the process of creating your web site will begin. We will keep in regular communication and meet to discuss progress and questions as often as we need to. You are welcome to stay as involved in the process as you wish, and we are pleased to supply you with previews of your site design whenever possible. When set project goals are accomplished for project due dates per the written agreement, a midpoint payment will be accepted.
- Site Launch
- When the design is complete to your satisfaction, the day will come to launch your site! We will handle all aspects of uploading your site to your host to keep the experience worry-free for you. If you have an existing hosting provider or domain name registrar, we will need access to these accounts to avoid delays in launching your site. When the site is complete and live, we will accept your final payment.
- 30-Day Test Period
- During the first 30 days after your site launch, we are happy to make minor adjustments at no additional cost to you. This will allow you and your site visitors to make sure that your site behaves the way it is supposed to. This is the time for you to ensure there are no errors in communication and that all site features work as expected. Major changes and site upgrades are not covered in this period, and are instead handled as ongoing maintenance.
- Ongoing Maintenance
- We are happy to provide ongoing support and maintenance for your site after its launch. This includes everything from minor changes to major additions and upgrades. Maintenance is usually charged at a rate of $40 per hour with a one hour minimum and billed by the half hour thereafter. Large additions and changes may be quoted with a flat project price.
